This Cyberpunk TCG chase card is already selling for $1000—but you won’t be able to pull it

Johnny Silverhand is a Night City Legend, but you won’t be able to pull this valuable Cyberpunk TCG chase card from your retail packs.

Cyberpunk TCG’s debut set, Welcome to Night City, is almost here, allowing us into the dystopian world of Cyberware, corporate wars, and up-and-coming or established Legends of the franchise in trading card form. With booster boxes selling out and pre-release events going well, you may be hoping to score one of the TCG’s most valuable cards—but while a Johnny Silverhand Iconic Secret Rare does exist in the retail packs, this one selling for over $1000 won’t be available, sadly.

Before I shared the Cyberpunk TCG Welcome to Night City chase cards, many of them had yet to be revealed. However, with beta packs in the hands of Kickstarter backers and some lucky collectors, there were already plenty of elusive chase cards selling online via eBay and TCGPlayer. One of them was Johnny Silverhand - Rocking Renegade #B168, a stylish card that has become one of Cyberpunk TCG’s most sought-after cards and is now selling for over $1000 ahead of the first set’s release.

The catch? Well, it’s only available in the aforementioned Welcome to Night City Beta, exclusive packs that won’t be sold when the retail set arrives. It’s not the only card going for a lot of money, either, with Judy Alvarez - Nothing to Doubt #B171 selling for around $800, while Panam Palmer - Strength Through Family #B170 is sitting around $900. What makes these so special is the B-code at the beginning of the number, indicating their beta status, as well as the fact that—as far as I’m aware—there will be no more beta sets for any future expansions.

Clearly, they’re expensive due to their scarcity, but the artwork is fairly unique, too. While the retail versions of these cards feature the characters in front of a larger version of themselves, the beta chase cards have this white, stylized look that feels premium and almost like a mural, depicting the legends of Cyberpunk 2077 as if graffitied on the walls of Arasaka in defiance. Do I prefer them to the retail options? Absolutely, but I can understand why these are exclusive and limited to backers.

I am, in many ways, quite sad I missed the chance to score some of the highest-value, most sought-after Cyberpunk TCG rarities in a now-unavailable version of the set, but those who backed it when it was a concept instead of an actual game put their hard-earned money into it. Maybe one day I’ll be able to afford that Panam Palmer card—if only I’m lucky enough (and rich enough).

If you’re looking to score some retail packs, I have a guide on buying the Cyberpunk TCG Welcome to Night City booster box—that’s 24 packs, giving you plenty of chances to get the standard chase cards. Sorry, no B-Iconic Secret Rares, but hey, at least you’ve got to open some packs. Pokémon TCG collectors could only dream of that.
