This upcoming Adam Smasher card for Cyberpunk TCG’s Edgerunners set is brutal brilliance

Adam Smasher is one of Cyberpunk’s top villains, and the Edgerunners: Burn Bright set is delivering an excellent chase for the Cyberpunk TCG.

While everyone knows an initial expansion is important, there’s nothing like a sophomore set to prove that a TCG has what it takes to become legendary. Cyberpunk TCG’s Edgerunners: Burn Bright has a lot to prove, but the initial art reveals for some of the expansion’s upcoming cards are giving an excellent first impression. As always, one card has already taken my cybernetic heart—and that’s the gory greatness of Adam Smasher.

Adam Smasher - Story Ends Here doesn’t have a Cyberpunk TCG rarity attached to it just yet—but based on the reveal, it could either get the new one, or perhaps it will be an Iconic Legend card. What it lacks in a rarity symbol, it more than makes up for by telling a story. Specifically, it tells the end of a story. Not Smasher’s, of course, but that of plenty of other mercs unfortunate enough to be in his path.

With the latest reveal, exclusively shared by Polygon last month, Adam Smasher has turned a bunch of people into a bloody goop on the ground below him, mashing them into nothing but atoms as he stands above them, red light streaming from his eye. It is unapologetic in its violence, becoming a display of mass murder. But only for us; in Adam’s eyes, this is another day in the Cyberpunk TCG world.

I love the Welcome to Night City chase cards, including Adam’s Iconic Unit card, but this is the absolute bloody cherry on top of the cake. If Edgerunners: Burn Bright manages to capture this spirit with all of its cards when it releases in April next year, there’s a good chance this might be one of the best TCG sets on the market. And what a way to kick off a new year for the Cyberpunk TCG.

Edgerunners: Burn Bright will also have pre-release events in the week leading up to the set’s official launch, and products will include packs, booster boxes, decks, and more.
